 I don’t know if this is some sort of slang, but I doubt it. The literacy rates in New Brunswick are at abysmally low levels. Lately, there have been several stories on CBC radio about difficulties that people with low literacy levels face. Some of the stories are truly horrendous - for example this one about a woman who signed a wrong form authorizing doctors to perform a hysterectomy. Recent studies show that 56 percent of adult New Brunswickers have inadequate literacy skills. This number includes significant number of university students who are at level 1 or 2 on the literacy scale. The photo was made on Tin Can Beach. | |
