![]() During my stroll yesterday through the Old Montréal I also visited the Notre-Dame Basilica of Montréal. It was absolutely gorgeous, even if it is a bit on the opulent side. The explosion of colours that greets you inside is in sharp contrast with subdued light (It’s rather very dark) and sound. The basilica was build through the 1820s in neo-gothic style. It is located pretty much on the same spot where the first settlers erected a simple wooden church in 1640s shortly after Paul de Chomedey de Maissonneuve founded the city. This was hand held, because, the idiot that I am, I left my tripod in Saint John. | |
