This is an old shot from last fall - it’s been sitting in my blog folder for a while. One of the blogs I regularly check out is Canadian Journalist. It has recently run a well written and well sourced piece on the biggest problem in Canadian publishing: Heather Reisman's Chapters/Indigo/Coles massive bookstore chain has too much control over what Canadians can read, and which Canadian writers and publishers can sell their words. The direct result of near monopoly on book and magazine distribution in this country is that small publishers and small magazines have very difficult time when it comes to reaching Canadians. Small bookstores are virtually all gone and the only ones that remain are second-hand bookstores that seem to survive in city centers. In the world of photography Canon has announced its new flagship camera, Canon 1D Mark III. Personally, I preferred this version. I mean really, what else do you need a camera to do? And now test time. Can you distinguish a real photo from a digitally produced image? Take the test. I got 7 out of 10. Incidentally, my brother, who just celebrated his birthday a couple of days ago, does that kind of stuff and has a new website. Check it out, if you haven’t already. | |
