Westmorland Road conveniece and politics by Facebook

Ahhh... Nothing like a bit of controversy to shake this town up. A city councilor decided to start a Facebook group taking to the task Telegraph-Journal for what he perceives as provincial paper’s negative bias against the city of Saint John. Mwahhhhaaahhha... Imagine that, a municipal politician unhappy with the local paper for reporting the fact that the city councilors are behaving like their collective IQ is around room temperature.

Don’t get me wrong, Telegraph-Journal is in many ways a terrible paper. And the ownership IS a problem, but complaining that the paper is not co-operating enough with the council is just a truly dumb thing to say. Of course the paper is not co-operating with the council. They are not supposed to co-operate with the council. They are also not supposed to blindly support every idiotic piece of massive industrial development in a city that all on its own can cause climate change. They are even not supposed to be ugly and boring and unimaginative. Take them to task for real problems and not for actually reporting shenanigans of the elected officials. Sheesh...

Over the last few months I have been collecting Holga shots of corner stores around the province so there is a new gallery on the blog. This is a convenience store, currently for sale and closed, on Westmorland Road in East Saint John.

[FULL DISCLOSURE: I occasionally write and shoot for the Telegraph-Journal.]
