It's been ages since I read a whole book in a day. As you can see from the list on the right my reading lately hasn't really been cheerful – in fact The War Against the Weak gave me nightmares, so my significant and always wise other suggested that I take a break. So I did. Long time ago, I was about 12 I think, I read everything that I could get my hands on by Raphael Sabatini. I wondered if Mr. Sabatini can still be a rollicking good read that I remembered. Well. Scaramouche was all that and more. It was wonderful.

For obvious reasons I did not have time to hang out at all the usual places, but I did go here and so should you. You'll be glad you did.

This is the executive chef at Delta Brunswick making mash-potatoes look marvelous.
